The People of the Sea are the millions who depend on the sea for their livelihoods, living and working onboard ship or in coastal regions. Their lives are nourished by the sea: the beauty of nature, the harvest of fish, opportunities for employment and the cultural enrichment that comes from visiting other shores. Abuses of the maritime environment, pollution and over-fishing, threaten their livelihoods.

The Apostleship of the Sea is the Church among the People of the Sea. Our mission is to offer practical help to those in need; solidarity with the oppressed; welcome and hospitality to those on the move; and spiritual sustenance to enable People of the Sea to be the light of Christ for each other.
