First Catholic Eco-Schools Newsletter

A new Catholic Eco-Schools newsletter has been created. It’s part Sound of Many Waters - the Clifton Cathedral-based initiative to explore and celebrate our need to care for the environment.

After the launch of the Catholic schools initiative in St Brendan's Catholic College last October several schools in our diocese said they were interested in doing something more - and that what they wanted was a forum for discussing issues and ideas and problems, and sharing information.

The Alliance of Religions and Conservation (ARC) - one of the supporters of Sound of Many Waters - offered to host an informal newsletter for them, at least in the beginning, and the first one was sent out last week.

“Right now we only have a handful of schools on the list,” said ARC’s communications director Victoria Finlay. “But if it is what is needed then no doubt it will expand. This newsletter is for the schools, and the stories and ideas will come from the schools. So the more people who join, the better.”

Some of the themes suggested so far include: making an eco-week engaging, making buildings more sustainable, and building faith into the environmental message.

If you'd like to participate, please send an email to ARC- and they will send you the most recent letter, and, of course, add you to the list.

Sound of Many Waters is a year-long series of events in and around Clifton Cathedral. The last event was a vigil of reconciliation for creation. The next event is a dawn chorus with a difference!
