Vigil of Reconciliation & Reflection for Creation

As part of its year-long series of environmental events - Sound of Many Waters - Clifton Cathedral hosts a unique vigil on Friday 15th February.  The event runs from 7.00 pm to 10.00 pm and people can drop-in for as little or as long as they.

Father Chris Boles, Jesuit priest and Vicar Episcopal for Justice and Peace in the Archdiocese of St Andrews and Edinburgh, leads the vigil event in Clifton’s stunning Cathedral on Clifton Park.

Father Chris said, “Reflective readings, beautiful music, guided meditations and stillness will focus our thoughts and prayers on God’s creation, seeing and hearing it in all its wonder through sound and film. All are welcome to come and experience the creation in a new way through this time of prayer.”

Mary Colwell, the ecological campaigner and inspiration behind Sound of Many Waters said, “Take time to stop and think about our relationship with the natural world in the calm spiritual environment of Clifton Cathedral.  Beautiful images will be projected onto the wall, rich sounds and times of prayer and meditation will help us focus on different aspects of nature.  Music, silence, prayer, reflection and beauty will create an unforgettable evening that will immerse us in the diversity and inspirational splendour of the natural world.”

Right Reverend Declan Lang, Bishop of Clifton said, “Lent is a particularly good season for a vigil such as this, when we are reminded that we are called to be one with the whole of creation.  In our reflections we will see, both where we need to be reconciled to the rest of creation and discover how to act in such a way that adds to the common good.”
