The story of Sound of Many Waters – the Catholic Church’s year-long exploration of our need to care for our environment – has been made into a podcast and is available now.
‘Journey – The Sound of Many Waters Podcast’ is presented by BBC West’s popular presenter Trevor Fry. You can download and listen at the link below. The top quality production is 30 minutes long.
Sound of Many Waters is inspired by Mary Colwell a Clifton Cathedral parishioner and BBC Natural History producer, who produced the special podcast.
The journey to Sound of Many of Waters begins two years ago when Clifton Cathedral hosted Mary Colwell’s ground-breaking talk ‘The Pope and the Iceberg’ which explored environmental issues and challenged the Church to speak out.
Mary Colwell said, “Since I first presented ‘The Pope and the Iceberg’ in Clifton Cathedral, awareness of environmental issues has grown throughout society. Sound of Many Waters is a reflection of that concern and a sign that the Catholic Church is committed to promoting respect and appreciation of the natural world.”
Sound of Many Waters is a wonderful year-long exploration of our need to care for our environment. The celebrations at Clifton Cathedral in Bristol draw on Catholic teachings, insights and networks – and are open to everyone. Together we can help restore the world, and fill it with the sound of many waters, flowing together. Sound of Many Waters launches on Saturday 29 September at 6.00 pm in Clifton Cathedral, Bristol. All are welcome.
Sound of Many Waters is supported by a range of organisations including WWF, Alliance of Religions and Conservation (ARC), the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales, CAFOD and the Apostleship of the Sea. We are pleased that Sound of Many Waters has backing on the national and international scene. Messages of support have been received from the Bishops’ Conferences of Australia, USA and Scotland.
Right Reverend Declan Lang, Bishop of Clifton and Bishop for Environmental Justice for the Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales, said, “Join with us on the journey of Sound of Many Waters. Here at Clifton Cathedral we are embarking on a series of events that demonstrate action, prayer, fun, and reflection, to help us explore our need to care for our environment.”
